Diabetic Foot Ulcer
A diabetic foot ulcer is an open wound on the foot in a person with diabetes. Reduced sensation, pressure, poor circulation and infection can delay healing, so early assessment is important.
डायबिटिक फुट अल्सर — मधुमेह वाले व्यक्ति के पैर पर बनी न भरने वाली खुली चोट को डायबिटिक फुट अल्सर कहते हैं। संवेदना कम होना, दबाव, रक्त आपूर्ति की कमी और संक्रमण के कारण घाव देर से भर सकता है।

What you may notice
- Open sore or break in the skin
- Redness, swelling or warmth
- Discharge or bad odour when infected
- Reduced sensation or numbness in the feet
लक्षणों की तीव्रता हर मरीज में अलग हो सकती है। लक्षण लगातार बने रहें तो चिकित्सकीय जांच कराना उचित है।
Why it can happen
- Nerve damage (neuropathy)
- Poor blood circulation
- Repeated pressure from footwear or walking
- High blood glucose and previous foot ulcers
कारण हर मरीज में अलग हो सकते हैं; जीवनशैली, पहले की बीमारियों और अन्य जोखिम कारकों को ध्यान में रखा जाता है।
How it is evaluated
Assessment includes wound size and depth, circulation, sensation and signs of infection. Blood glucose control and vascular or imaging tests may be needed depending on the wound.
लक्षणों और चिकित्सकीय जांच के आधार पर निदान किया जाता है। आवश्यकता के अनुसार डॉक्टर अतिरिक्त जांच या इमेजिंग की सलाह दे सकते हैं।
What treatment may involve
Care can include pressure off-loading, wound cleaning and dressings, infection treatment when indicated, blood glucose management and assessment of circulation. Some wounds require specialist procedures or surgery.
उपचार बीमारी की गंभीरता, कारण, जांच के निष्कर्ष और मरीज के स्वास्थ्य के अनुसार तय किया जाता है।
Do not ignore warning signs
- Fever or feeling very unwell
- Rapidly spreading redness or swelling
- Black tissue or severe colour change
- Deep wound, exposed bone or foul-smelling discharge
