Leech Therapy
Leech therapy uses medicinal leeches in carefully selected situations to remove a small amount of blood and support local venous drainage. It is a medical procedure that requires appropriate patient selection, sterile technique and monitoring.
लीच थेरेपी / जोंक उपचार — औषधीय जोंक की मदद से चुनिंदा स्थितियों में थोड़ी मात्रा में रक्त निकालकर स्थानीय नसों में रक्त प्रवाह में सहायता करने वाले उपचार को लीच थेरेपी कहा जाता है। यह उपचार उचित मरीज का चयन, स्वच्छ तकनीक और चिकित्सकीय निगरानी में ही किया जाना चाहिए।

लक्षणों की तीव्रता हर मरीज में अलग हो सकती है। लक्षण लगातार बने रहें तो चिकित्सकीय जांच कराना उचित है।
Why it can happen
- Used only for selected indications
- Not appropriate for everyone
- Bleeding disorders, severe anaemia and some infections may make it unsuitable
- Medicinal leeches can carry infection risk if improperly sourced or handled

How it is evaluated
The clinician reviews the reason for therapy, medicines, bleeding risk and general health before treatment. The treatment area is prepared carefully and the patient is monitored for bleeding and other reactions.
लक्षणों और चिकित्सकीय जांच के आधार पर निदान किया जाता है। आवश्यकता के अनुसार डॉक्टर अतिरिक्त जांच या इमेजिंग की सलाह दे सकते हैं।
What treatment may involve
Leech therapy should be performed only by trained healthcare professionals using medically appropriate leeches and infection-control precautions. Antibiotic or other medical management may be needed depending on the indication and clinical assessment.
